My Research
My name is Yosue Perez, I am a Junior at Northern Illinois University, majoring in Accounting. I am part of the Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP). My research focus is on Immigrant Access to Health Care. I am working with Dr. Beatrix Hoffman from the Department of History. This is an important topic, because there are about 11 million immigrants in the U.S. that do not have access to affordable health insurance.
Why is Immigrant Access Important to Me?
Immigrant access to health care is very important to me, because I come from an immigrant family. I have seen a lot of my family members struggle their whole lives, because there are many struggles that they had to face. It is difficult to find work and to get medical help, so my goal is to make it easier for immigrants to find access to health care, by providing this information.
